Spark student engagement and learning through visual inquiry and discussion - use Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS) in your classroom!
SparQ is a mobile app for PK-12 teachers and companion web app for students.
Purpose:
- Spark curiosity and excite students
- Facilitate productive discussions as a class and/or in small groups
- Build critical and creative thinking, communication, and social-emotional skills
- Make instruction student-centered and student-driven
Features:
- Teachers discover and deploy rich media for classroom instruction
- Teachers select images for the entire class
- Teachers customize selections for small groups or individuals
- Students annotate images with insights and questions
SparQ pilot phase (Spring and Summer 2018) pairs art images with VTS, a beloved discussion facilitation method proven over twenty years of research and practice.
Following the pilot in the 2018-2019 School Year, SparQ will expand to include a range of rich digital media for classroom use.
