That’s it! After answering the last question, the app will show you all of the screening tests that are recommended for you, with links to more information where you can find out more.
The user experience is very easy to understand. Instead of searching through endless research papers, trying to decipher which ones are relevant or reliable, we’ve created a shortcut to the answers that are important to you. By simply answering a series of questions about yourself you will receive a list of recommended tests that you should screen for.
It is very hard for a family doctor to recall what type of tests are recommended for each of the thousands of individuals that they treat daily. We therefore understand that it is in the best interest of everyone if the general population is better informed of the recommendations that pertain specifically to them.
These recommendations are not meant to replace a doctor’s advice. On the contrary, they are here to work cooperatively with your physician, where you can both make an informed decision together. Gone are the days of paternalistic medicine where the monopoly of knowledge is in the hands of the doctor. Patients need to be empowered with the relevant knowledge to understand which tests or treatments are available, which ones are recommended, and what are the consequences.
Evidence Based Medicine:
Each of our recommendations are based on multiple studies including massive amounts of data that show statistically relevant benefit. Including a recommendation requires examining the accuracy of the test, the benefits of discovering a disease early in the natural progression, the possible consequences of over diagnosis, as well as emotional strain of medical testing for potentially devastating diseases.
