App Description

Antle Discovers His Voice is an early childhood literacy assessment tool developed by the Mi'kmaw Kina'matnewey of Nova Scotia in partnership with Ebou Learning. The assessment is grounded in First Nations holistic perspectives on learning, and reflects traditional beliefs and perspectives of the Mi'kmaq people.
The child assessment is guided by Antle the Moose, a friendly and graceful giant known to be a sacred icon among the Mi'kmaq people. Antle guides young learners through the assessment by providing them with a familiar face, and removing bias from the assessment process. In order to make this assessment truly holistic, caregivers, teachers, and elders are also asked to complete customized surveys that help to create a complete snapshot of each child's oral literacy skills.
