Pictar 4+

This device had been in a box for the last 2 or 3 years… was going to put it on eBay despite the software not having support but I seen there was an update 5 months ago that addressed the connectivity of said device via ultra sonic communication it uses. It now functions to an extent but does tend to crash if you leave the app for whatever reason and come back …. You’ll have to restart the app again for it to function. Other than that I’m happy I can finally use the device I paid an arm and leg for… unfortunately the lens I have ( all 4… ) don’t have a need for as Apple has updated there cameras. Wish support came sooner but at least I can use the main device now.

For those of us that like using the iphone to take "photographs" and and not just snapshots, this is the greatest thing since canned soup. I can't tell you how nice it is to set the focus and exposure with a wheel instead of touch AND not lose it again when you accidently touch the screen. It give you a grip that prevents all the volume button accidents. The controls are excellent. It has a standard tripod connection. You don't have to mess with bluetooth connections - just slip your iphone in the holder and go. The app offers most everything except I am missing portrait mode on the iphone X. This is great for the older generation as a transition to great photography on the iphone.

When I purchase a product I want it work immediately. This doesn’t. The instructions are not accurate. The device doesn’t come charges. The instructions don’t explain why the blue light blinks. The manufacturer assumes the user will think it is a Bluetooth, but they don’t instruct the user to connect to a Bluetooth device in settings. In settings there is no name of a device like Pictar.
It is a cute idea but not ready for mainstream. I would recommend people wait until device is user friendly and when the features like the buttons actually work.
For now it is an attachment to the phone that is not necessary.
