Description

Practise parsing biblical Hebrew verbs with Parse It

Find biblical Hebrew difficult to learn? A key way to master a new language is to master verbs and biblical Hebrew is no different. Mastery comes from practice and that's where Parse It comes to the rescue!

Parse It helps you to practise Hebrew by giving you verbs to parse. Tap the screen to check you parsed correctly, then tap again for a new verb. Simple!

Stuck on a verb and need a hint? Tap any verb and Parse It will highlight the root consonants for you. Neat!

Features:
• Turn on and off individual stems, conjugations and verb types, so only practise what you've been taught or want to focus on.
• Highlight root consonants.
• All major stems, including: Qal, Niphal, Piel, Pual, Hiphil, Hophal, Hithpael and more…
• Conjugations include: perfect (suffix), imperfect (prefix), imperative, cohortative, infinitives (absolute and construct) and participles (active and passive).
• Strong and weak verb paradigms, including: I-guttural (aleph, ayin, he, het, resh), I-yod, I-nun, II-guttural, III-guttural, biconsonantal (hollow/middle weak) and geminate.
• Large collection of common verbs.

Doesn’t really help me

I purchased this to help me learn to parse verbs for a biblical Hebrew class I’m taking, but it doesn’t help. Just giving me random verbs to see is useless to me. If there was a search feature, or even if the verbs included a translation, it would be better. Disappointed. UPDATE: the developer has been incredibly nice about seeking feedback on how the app could be updated. I’m changing my rating just for that, and the fact that it isn’t the apps fault it doesn’t do what I want. It is what it is. Oy gevalt!

Exactly what I needed

This app does exactly what I needed it to do, it gives me random verbs from all different stems with all types of diagnostics and gives me the chance to test myself to see how well I know the nuances of each verb form. This app has already helped me so much in preparation for Hebrew exams!

A couple things I wish it did that aren’t a big deal but would be cool features: 1) I wish you could go back, if you tap too fast you sometimes lose the ability to look up a word that may be confusing, 2) it would be nice if you could choose to add pronominal suffixes. My exams have those on occasion and it would be nice to practice those.

I also did have an issue that was solved via a setting on my iPhone and the developer helped me address that issue.

This app is awesome and worth the $!

greatly Helpful, but would like a vocab element

The parsing help delivers on its promise. My request would be when the answers are revealed, one could see the translated meaning of the stem, so the practice could double as vocab help. Good work, we need more people making apps like these and putting in the effort. May God bless it.
