Erratic temp & humidity after new battery

Having more than one instrument, the Humiditrak is great. Working with the Humidipaks, the in-case humidity can be very stable.

Once the battery needed replacement, I noticed very erratic readings at first on the humidity then on the temperature. My room humidity / temp was 45% and 72 degrees. The newly changed Humiditrak after new battery and re-linking read 57% and 71 degrees. I deleted and re-linked. This time, 44% and 83 degrees.

There is no reset or calibration on the unit. And no way I know of to ‘tune’ the Humiditrak.

Great Way to Monitor My Guitars

I have two Humiditraks serving my Martin and Taylor guitars. Each guitar is humidified with two Humidipaks in the soundhole and one under the headstock. Initially, I had a disturbing reading from the units. They were reading differently and I just assumed there was a problem with one unit. I emailed my concerns to the home office and the next day their representative Bob suggested I put both units in the same case and then check the results. He explained that individual cases create different micro climates that can result in different readings. After a couple hours they had similar readings so I knew they functioned correctly.

I returned the units in their respective cases and now each gives a very consistent humidity and temperature for each case. I have the house thermostat set for cooler temperature during the night and I can see that the guitar case cools for that same period however, the humidity stays very consistent. It is nice to know the guitars humidity and temperature and not have to guess. I don’t have to open the case to check or even be in the same room. If my guitars are happy, I’m happy.

When it works…….

It started out OK. I was getting readings and app was set to send notifications. I’m careful about my temp and humidity in my home so I wasn’t concerned when I didn’t get warnings. Then one day I decided to check the app. Out of 5 sensors, two hadn’t updated for three months and the other three hadn’t updated for 1 month. The battery levels are OK.
I tried to reset them to factory settings, nothing. I deleted one sensor and tried to pair it again. It can’t decide if it can find the sensor or not. One time, it couldn’t find the sensor. The next try it says it found the sensor but can’t connect although the Bluetooth settings in my phone says it’s connected, then it’s not.
Notified the errors through the app but no response in over a week. Great customer service. I tried loading the app to my iPad. I got the same results as my phone when trying to pair the sensors again.
I did get a notification on the iPad that there is a big update coming soon. I sure hope so cuz the sensors cost enough for what they are. It would be nice if they actually worked.

Developer Response ,

Hi, I'm sorry to hear you are seeing an issue with your Humiditrak sensors not updating correctly and re-linking your sensor. The first thing I would recommend doing is checking to make sure your sensors battery is still alive. You can check this very easily by removing the battery from the sensor, waiting 15 to 20 seconds, then re-inserting the battery and checking to see if the sensor itself blinks red 4 times. You should see it blinking red on the front of the sensor under the vents. If it does not blink red 4 times, the battery will likely need to be replaced. If you need any help, please reach out to support@blustream.io!
