Buying a rental property can be sweet or sour! To keep things sweet make sure you check with an experienced independant and totallly local Property Manager, like me, before you buy.
I've been in this business since 1976, and have managed or owned several rental portfolios over the years, so i have a long assocation with this industry. I have been chair of the REINZ property management special interest group and am currently the Executive director of The Leading Property Managers of New Zealand Ltd. www.lpmnz.com.
Together with my wife, Pauline, we own several rental properties here so we are coal face property managers as well as investors, and yes, we get our hands dirty when we have to, so there is nothing much we haven't seen in this business. I am a keen golfer, Chess player, Rotarian and grandfather of 8. We support several charities including Neighbourhood Support; Rotorua Community Charity Trust and two Rotary clubs. I am always keen to offer advice to property investors- as we don't do sales we are able to give an unbiased and objective opinion about rental property here."
